SSM relies on a classic client-server model for its headquarters in Wädenswil. All business applications are made available via Citrix to the field offices in China and Italy as well as to field staff.

The Citrix Farm in use was put into operation in 2012 and was thus getting on in years. The goal of the project was to create a new platform based on the latest technologies that would greatly reduce operating expenses.

In an initial workshop, the initial situation was analyzed very carefully, with a special focus on the user requirements. Thanks to our new solution with PVS technology, administrators can now make policy changes or patches for applications and operating systems for an entire server farm in a single location.

The new Citrix platform was implemented between October 2019 – January 2020. Due to the corona crisis in 2020 and the resulting relocation of various workstations to the home offices, SSM had to add additional users to the Citrix platform within a short period of time. Far more than originally planned. With the help of the new Citrix platform, SSM was able to master this challenge in an exemplary manner.
